Novotel Citygate Hongkong

https://tourismalternative.blogspot.com/2013/03/novotel-citygate-hongkong.html

We changed our booking of JJ Hotel from 4 nights to 3 nights, and decided to allocate our budget to spend one night at Novotel Citygate. The main reason was we would like to stay as close as possible to Hongkong Disneyland, but we couldn't afford Disneyland Hotel:p We booked through their accor website, a superior room including breakfast HKD 1,400 nett for one night.

We left JJ Hotel early in the morning and took a taxi to Hongkong Station (cost HKD 40). Maybe the taxi driver assumed that we were going to the airport as we had our luggage with us. So he dropped us in front of the airport express train station. We walked to MTR station from the airport express train station, and took MTR heading to Tung Chung MTR station.

Arriving at Tung Chung MTR station, we walked to Novotel through Citygate Outlets. The shops were still closed at 9.30 am when we arrived. Citygate outlets located adjacent to the MTR station, so it was very handy. Novotel's entrance located on the 3rd level, we went there to left our luggage before going to Hongkong Disneyland. The Citygate Outlets were decorated with valentine's theme.

We came back to the hotel at 10 pm after spent the whole day at Disneyland, with our kiddos both fall asleep. That time we knew that even though we paid more expensive for our room at the Novotel (compared to HKD 1,078 per night at JJ Hotel), it was the best decision to move to this hotel for our last night. After the Disney fireworks show, everyone heading to MTR station and most of them going back to Hongkong. We took this below picture from the opposite, if we had to take the full MTR with our kiddos fall asleep, it would have been a disaster:p Whilst on the other side (on our side) people going to Tung Chung station from Sunny Bay MTR station were not too many. There were plenty of seats available on the MTR.

The room was very modern (compared to our room in JJ hotel), with a bathroom having direct access to our bed. There was a plate of cookies as a complimentary when we entered the room.

Our room had a fabulous view, we could see Tung Chung cable car station, playground from an apartment, and also the Hongkong airport. Taking the cable car was not in our itinerary, but having seen the cable car from early in the morning, made us decided to take the cable car to Lantau Island in the morning, before going to the airport.

We took their free shuttle bus to the airport, it was only 10 minutes away from Novotel Citygate to the airport. Being so close to the airport, we could manage doing shopping after our short visit to Lantau Island, before going to the airport:)

Too bad when we were there, the swimming pool was under construction. Well, maybe it was too cold to swim in the month of February in Hongkong. Overall, it was a lovely hotel, good choice if you'd like to be close with Hongkong Disneyland, without having to pay the very expensive Disneyland Hotel.
