Launceston Day 1

https://tourismalternative.blogspot.com/2012/12/launceston-day-1.html

After visiting Ross, we continued our roadtrip in Tasmania and arrived around 4 pm at Launceston, another beautiful city in Tasmania. We went directly to our hostel which is calledLaunceston Backpackers Hotel. We choose this hostel due to its reasonable price (double room with a shared bathroom cost us AUD 53) and also because it has a free parking which we needed for our rented car. The hostel replied promptly to our emails prior to our departure. Actually we were planning to come late on the Christmas eve, and they have arranged how we could do our self check in. The staffs were really helpful. Other thing we like was our comfortable bed and also the spacious room. We also cooked our meals in this hostel as it is only 5 minutes away from Coles and it has a huge and clean kitchen. By the way, we noted that the building of our hostel was built in 1905! Wohooo...

Then we went to the city center, but it was too late. All the shops were already closed at 5 pm, so we enjoyed walking down the empty city center. They were colorful huge cushions in the middle of the city center, and I was happy to sit on the purple one:p

As we were hungry we walked to a foodcourt where we wound Thai Express and had our late lunch (or early dinner?) there. By the way I notice there were several Thai, Chinese and Indian restaurant in Launceston.

After our dinner, we went to the Cataract George Reserve. It was a lovely place with a playground, swimming pool, walking track as well as the bridge. We arrived at the Cataract George Reserve around 7 pm, so there were only a few people, made this place so peaceful.

perfect place for a post wedding picture:D

Too bad the chairlift was already closed.

We went back to our hostel, and this is the view of the city at sunset. Lovely! I must say that compared to other cities I visited during our first aussie trip, Launceston is the most beautiful one.

Rene also took pictures of an old church that is not used anymore.

And this is the most beautiful church we’ve seen in Launceston just at the corner of Arul’s hotel.

Spend a full day in Launceston, so you could enjoy all the beautiful sights this city has to offer. Our time was too short in Launceston. We hope there’s gonna be another chance visiting this lovely old town.
