Fragrance Hotel Riverside

If you are looking for a hotel with a swimming pool for kiddos in the heart of Singapore with a limited budget, I would recommend the Fragrance Hotel Riverside at Clarke Quay. It's strategically located, brand new and very clean, the seven eleven is next door, and it has a rooftop pool! Read the rest of the post and I will tell you why I like this hotel a lot. 

First of all the lobby of the hotel. Well, the hotel lobby was small, but the best part of it was the left baggage room. I could leave my luggage at the hotel for free (I left my luggage at the hotel for three days). The staffs at the front desk were really helpful and friendly.

Yes Fragrance's room are small, I got an executive room for SGD 145 per night with breakfast. The room was small but I think it will be ok for two adults with one child. The executive room has a safe deposit box and a refrigerator.

The best part of the hotel for me was the rooftop swimming pool. It's a small pool, but no one seems to swim in the morning, so I always had it all for myself. And although it's a small pool, I think it would be more than enough for kiddos. It has also a tiny fitness center with only two equipments.

Breakfast were served at the cafe next door, guests were given breakfast coupon upon check-in, and I had to present mine to the waiter. We could choose Asian Meal (Nasi Lemak, Mee Laksa), or American Breakfast (bread with sausage or pancake). Well the breakfast was simple and basic, it's enough to start my day.

Transportation To and From The Hotel
The Fragrance Riverside Hotel located only 5 minutes away from Clarke Quay MRT. The bus stops are even closer than the MRT. Exit the hotel and go to the left. At the end of the road, you will find the "Boat Quay" bus stop (in front of Five Stone hotel) where you can take bus 80 and 145 to go directly to Vivocity. If you are coming from Orchard, you can take bus 124 from bus stop "Opposite Mandarin Orchard", and stop at Boat Quay bus stop and walk to the hotel. Really easy.

If you exit the hotel and go to the right (same direction as the MRT), the nearest bus stop will be the "Opposite Clarke Quay Station" bus stop. You can take bus 33 which will take you directly to IKEA Alexandra Road. From this bus stop you are only two bus stops away from Chinatown. By the way after shopping at Mustafa Little India, you can take bus 147 from Jalan Besar, and the bus 147 will take you to this bus stop.

If you cross the road to the Central shopping malls, you will find bus stop named "Clarke Quay Stn" where you can take bus 33 to Bugis Station. And if you plan going to Orchard, you can take bus 190 to Ngee Aan City from this bus stop.

Ohh how I love Singapore buses (more than MRT) as taking buses are cheaper and the walking distance are shorter than taking the MRT.

Walking distance to Singapore Riverside

The hotel is in a walking distance to Clarke Quay, Boat Quay, and even to the Merlion statue and also the Esplanade! Staying here means saving your transportation budget, because all the interesting place could be reached by walking. 

To save you Budget..just an idea..

Fragrance Hotel Riverside is surrounded by many hostels, two of the hotels have been reviewed in our blog which are Rucksack inn 2 and the River City Inn. This condition giving me an idea that if I go with rene and kiddos to Singapore again and decide to stay at the Fragrance Hotel Riverside, we can mix staying at this hotel and maybe rene can stay at the hostel:p Just to save budget instead of booking two rooms in this hotel..hehe..
